Wire rope accessories
The main wire rope accessories are connecting sleeves, terminals, sockets, wire rope clips, wedge sockets and connectors, which are known as slinging accessories.

Steel wire rope connecting sleeve
There are two ways of attaching a loop to the end of a length of steel wire rope. You can manually create a splice, a laborious task, or you can fasten a connecting sleeve with a powerful hydraulic press. This sleeve, usually made from aluminium when used for ungalvanised or galvanised steel wire rope, is available in stainless steel or copper when used for stainless steel wire rope. The wire rope sleeve is literally pressed onto the steel wire rope with a press or sleeving machine and prevents the loop from becoming loose.
Steel wire rope terminal
A loop at one end of the steel wire rope can be loose (closed with a manual splice or a fastened sleeve) or with a thimble attached. A terminal is inserted centrally into the loop and the loop is tightened until the steel wire rope is fully inside the terminal cavity. This produces a loop or an eye with thimble. This terminal can also be a tubular thimble. The steel wire rope is then inserted into the terminal tube thereby reducing external impact, often more intense at the end of the steel wire rope sling. There are also terminals available for synthetic ropes.
Steel wire rope socket
Many types of socket are available for the various uses of steel wire rope. These includes mooring sockets, conical sockets, open sockets and closed sockets. These sockets are steel terminals with an eye or a fastened jaw on the end of the steel wire rope so it can be connected to another part.
Wire rope clips
These frequent-usage wire rope clips are available in galvanised or stainless steel, depending on usage. A clamp means that two bolts can be fastened and two steel wire ropes connected instantly.
A wedge socket is a steel terminal made up of several elements (body, wedge, round pin and wire rope clips) to ensure the ends of the steel wire rope are fully secure when used in extreme conditions.
Grease and resin
A special resin is used for spelter sockets or wire rope sockets, and for the extra protection and longer durability of the steel wire rope, we recommend coating it with specially designed wire rope grease.
